Conflicting DPM and SCOM agents

Today DPM 2012R2 and 2016 agents stopped work on some Exchange servers, the service DPMRA couldn’t start. What I found in log – “The DPMRA service terminated with service-specific error Only one usage of each socket address (protocol/network address/port) is normally permitted”. That means DPM agent service can’t start because its ports (5718, 5719) using by other applications.

Run command “nestat -abno” with admin rights. See what I found in command’s output:

TCP 10.20.10.157:5718 10.20.10.160:5723 ESTABLISHED 6236
[HealthService.exe]

Healthservice.exe is the SCOM agent service.

Port 5719 is free, but somehow DPM can’t use it.

The workaround: stop SCOM agent, run DPM agent, SCOM agent will find alternative port to connect and run.
